Composer Vangelis may have won an Academy Award for the soundtrack to Chariots of Fire, but all SFF fans know him best for his scores to Blade Runner and Carl Sagan’s Cosmos.
If you’re one of those fans, then it’s a great day to be you–because Vangelis has a brand new album out that you won’t want to miss.
Vangelis’s latest album is called Rosetta, after the eponymous mission from the European Space Agency. Incredibly, the Rosetta probe completed its mission–landing on a comet–within a week of Vangelis’s album release.

When asked how he felt about not being asked to score the sequel to Blade Runner (that job went to composer Jóhann Jóhannsson), Vangelis admitted that he’s fine with it. He told NPR, “You can never repeat certain things. It’s only once in a lifetime. It’s like doing another Chariots Of Fire. It’s impossible.”
